AJAY CHAUTALA CALLS FOR BATTLE AGAINST ADDICTIONS

Press Note

Chandigarh, August 5: Students community should wage a decisive battle against the social evils like drug & liquor addiction, female foeticide, said Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Secretary General & Rajya Sabha MP, Mr Ajay Singh Chautala while addressing the students delegates at English Auditorium, Panjab University here today on the occasion of 6th Foundation Day of INSO.

Giving a clarion call to the students’ community, INLD MP said that the people of the country are looking upon students to show a new path. He said that students are part of society and so they should also perform their other social responsibilities apart from taking up their issues. All the students should take a pledge to fight for the cause of ‘have nots’ and for justice, be it some farmer, labourer or poor shop keeper, he added. ‘This’ would give them great sense of satisfaction and strengthen them in long run, he further added.

Calling upon the students to play more active role in politics, Mr Chautala said that all citizens above 18 years of age are voters of the country and thus have responsibility to elect a good, clean & corruption free government. Students community should support clean, spotless & dedicated people in politics, so that the politics can be ‘uncontaminated’ and the damage done by certain selfish politicians could be repaired.

INLD leader termed the recent incidents & allegations of ‘MP vote for sale’ as shameful for the whole country & the society. He said that students and the youth should educate the general people to use their vote intelligently, so that such corrupt and selfish people are eliminated in the first part itself. We are also responsible for these incidents as not many good people are coming to politics thus letting some ‘bad’ people to be elected, he added.

Mr Chautala said that INSO is a totally ‘independent’ student organisation, whose policy, programmes are decided by its students leadership only. He said that INLD has never interfered with the INSO decisions like leadership, polices & programmes. We just wanted to provide an appropriate platform to the energetic & selfless students, where they could not only serve fellow students but also could champion the rights of other ‘have not’ people against all sorts of injustice & repression, he further added.

Rajya Sabha MP congratulated INSO activists on completion of five eventful years in the service of students’ community. He said that in this short time, INSO has carved a special place for itself in all the Universities of North India including New Delhi & Chandigarh. He disclosed that students of other Universities are also interested in INSO and he is getting letters of requests in this regard. He asked INSO leaders to also form units in states of Himachal Pradesh & Jammu & Kashmir also.

Mr Chautala also presented mementos to students delegates & District INSO presidents. INSO Chandigarh president, Mr Vikas Rathee, INSO Haryana incharge, Prof Ranndhir Singh Cheeka, INSO election in-charge for PU elections & state General Secretary, Mr Sunil Kumar, PU INSO chairman, Mr Sukhdev Kundu, PU INSO president, Mr Deepak Hooda, Chandigarh INSO senior vice president, Mr Neeraj Malik, Mr Anuraag Chauhan, DAV college students leaders, Mr Shiv Karan, Mr Geet Goet, Khalsa college INSO leader, Mr Yuvraj Singh, Mr Jairnail Singh & other senior INSO leaders also addressed the students delegates.
